Fashion Runways During The Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak has thrown everything we thought was normal out the window. It's no secret that the pandemic had a significant impact on the fashion industry: from retail store closures to fashion week cancellations to a shift in public perception about the typical fashion timetable, the epidemic brought a number of major issues to the forefront. While the Resort and couture shows were canceled, fashion week continued in September in New York, London, Milan, and Paris - but not in the way we've come to know it.

Moschino

Jeremy Scott recently collaborated with Hudson's Bay on a line utilizing the company's signature stripes, developed an entire collection of doll-size items that were modelled by marionette dolls on a runway. Dolls in the likeness of Anna Wintour and Hamish Bowles, as well as a version of himself, were also produced by the designer.

Balmain

When Olivier Rousteing showed his new designs for the SS21 season, he created another significant social media moment for Balmain. Rousteing had three rows of big TV screens erected up the length of the runway to allow his regular front row favorites to catch all of the action because many of his regular front row favorites couldn't attend the shows in person this season in Paris. Among the familiar faces seen on the screens were Anna Wintour, Kris Jenner, Cindy Crawford, and Cara Delevingne.

Thom Browne

Thom Browne took things one step further by placing his SS21 collection in 2132. The designer created a fictional Olympic Games-type event, called the Lunar Games, hosted by Canadian model Grace Mahary. Models – some of whom are actual Olympians – strutted up and down the steps of the stadium in the Dan Levy-loved designer’s newest wares in a presentation that provided us all with the escape we so badly need.

The fashion is surely setting new boundaries for fashion as well as technology, this is also an opportunity for the businesses that need recognition and want to be seen amongst the other popular brands, the only key is to think out of the box!
