Met Gala "Old Hollywood" 2021

Some celebrities chose to serve old Hollywood more broadly, while others chose to be more specialized in their vision for their appearance. Many looked to the past for inspiration, channeling fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn. Here are some of my favourites from the night...

Kendall Jenner looked stunning in custom Givenchy, which was a modern re-creation of Audrey Hepburn's ball gown from "My Fair Lady."

The illusion tulle gown was layered over a nude corset bodysuit and was lavishly embroidered with crystal beads, flowers, and fringe. Jenner completed the ensemble with beige leather sandals and matching gloves.

Gigi Hadid returned to the event in a modern take on a Jackie Kennedy Onassis-inspired dress. Prada's custom white column dress with a thigh-high leg split in the rear was worn by the model, who was also wearing black leather elbow gloves, embroidered tights, and crystal black pointed heels. Her ordinarily blonde hair was dyed red for the occasion, and she wore it in a high ponytail with a black Prada clip.

Billie Eilish, who wore a custom peach-colored Oscar de la Renta gown with a printed tulle ombré bustier top and an oversize tulle skirt, deviated from her usual style of comfortable, roomy clothing. Her new bleach blonde hair, done in gentle curls to reveal a bob, channeled Marilyn Monroe.
